The A's are going to the playoffs. Given where this team was at the end of last season; a less than spectacular spring training prognosis; the seemingly waving of the white flag trades of Trevor Cahill, Gio Gonzalez and Andrew Bailey; that nine-game losing streak spanning late May and early June..... This is a satisfying moment for a scrappy, fun-loving team that most of baseball -and just about all but a small percentage of the Bay Area- probably still considers a fluke and a joke.
None of it matters right now. The A's will have at least one postseason game to play. But the AL Western Division, though still a longshot, is up for grabs starting tomorrow night. Cheers. I may crack open a cold one right now and join in.
